To Be Absent From the Body

10 August, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

originally posted 01 March, 2009 reproduced from To Be Absent From the Body Death is one of the most difficult topics that any human being ever has to deal with. None of us likes dealing with the death of a family member, a close friend, or even people we do not know but still admire. Many people regularly visit the gravesite of a loved one, whereas others have their remains cremated and scattered into the wind. Even if you do not regularly visit a cemetery where your loved one may be buried, thoughts and memories of the deceased will undoubtedly still […]

UPDATED 14 AUGUST, 2006 What is your position concerning the Apocrypha? Protestants do not consider the books of the Apocrypha to be canonical because Jews do not consider them to be canonical. Jews do not consider these books to be canonical because the principal copies we have of them are written in Greek, and not Hebrew, and were an adjunct part of the Septuagint. The Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Anglican traditions, however, do consider these books to be canonical. The principal books of the Apocrypha include: 3 Esdras 4 Esdras Tobit Judith The Additions to Esther Wisdom Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) […]

Romans 1:18-25: Is Salvation Only Available for those who Profess Faith in Yeshua?

8 August, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

originally posted 08 July, 2008 reproduced from Romans for the Practical Messianic Most Believers, be they Christian or Messianic, widely make the assertion that in order to be redeemed one must profess an open faith in Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ), but questions inevitably arise when one considers the destiny of those who have not heard the gospel. While we often divide the world into two camps: the saved and unsaved, is this a completely valid way of looking at things? What about people who do not hear the gospel not because they reject it or refuse to listen to […]

The Freewill of Humans

4 August, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

POSTED 06 NOVEMBER, 2008 reproduced from the McHuey Blog This week the eyes of the world are upon the United States of America. The 2008 presidential election was fought long and hard, with some significant ups and downs, most notably the recent financial crisis. On the one side we had a candidate who had served his country faithfully since the age of 17, commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy, taken as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, representing Arizona as a senator, and now having been defeated in two presidential bids. On the other side we had […]

Eternal Punishment

Annihilationism (eternal punishment)

3 August, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

UPDATED 23 FEBRUARY, 2010 Do you believe that the condemned suffer eternal torment in the Lake of Fire or are destroyed? We believe that the condemned who do not receive Yeshua the Messiah as their Personal Savior will spend a conscious eternity separated from God. This period will be never-ending and is described all throughout Scripture by a number of descriptions such as separation, outer darkness, torment, banishment, etc. It is possible that Biblical language describing fire and smoke in the Lake of Fire may be figurative, or would only be part of the scenery of the dimension that those […]

Humanity as Our Business

POSTED 30 JULY, 2008 reproduced from the McHuey Blog Very late on Sunday night I returned from a 10 day holiday to the United Kingdom. Ever since I was a small child, London has been a city I have always wanted to see, and so for the past year I had been planning an excursion to not only see this wonderful place, but to celebrate my (almost) completed master’s degree (one more class!). Our group of four travelers was able to see many of the great tourist destinations, and much more. I come back home to America rested and refreshed, […]

The Faithfulness of Yeshua the Messiah

1 August, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

originally posted 07 July, 2009 reproduced from The New Testament Validates Torah New things are being proposed in today’s contemporary Bible scholarship, and they are opening some unique doors to the developing theology and spirituality of our maturing Messianic movement. One such phenomenon is the proposal that when “works of law” (Grk. ergōn nomou) is referred to in the Pauline Epistles (Galatians 2:16; 3:2, 5, 10; Romans 3:20, 28), it is not speaking about “observing the law” (NIV) as such, but more specifically about the halachah of an ancient sect of Judaism (cf. 4QMMT). This has enabled us to see that […]

The Christ Who Makes Men Whole

31 July, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

by Bishop Marvin A. Franklin radio address delivered 30 May, 1948 “Wilt Thou Be Made Whole?” John 5:6 The increasing need in our nation for the services of the psychiatrist is an alarming fact facing us today. It reveals a lack of wholeness in personality and the presence of a sense of failure and frustration. Vast confusion abounds in human lives. Eyes are blinded, emotions are seared, and men grope in their darkened world like lost children “crying for the light, with no language but a cry.” We recall that in our college days an erudite guest-speaker would tell us […]

The Breath of Life

29 July, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

POSTED 02 JUNE, 2009 reproduced from the McHuey Blog By now, many of you have heard of the vicious murder of Dr. George Tiller, an abortion specialist from Wichita, Kansas. He was a specialist in late-term abortions, and was shot by an extremist Christian who belonged to a fringe group that thinks it is Biblically acceptable to target abortion doctors for assassination. Quite tragically, Tiller was functioning as an usher at his church when he was shot to death. Thankfully, there has been a great deal of outrage expressed by the conservative Christian community here in America against this kind […]

The Assurance of Our Salvation

28 July, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

originally posted 01 March, 2004 reproduced from Introduction to Things Messianic People investigate the Messianic movement and their Hebraic Roots for an entire host of reasons. People who enter into the Messianic movement do so because they are seeking God’s truth, and they are seeking to be in greater compliance with His Word. They enter into the Messianic movement because they have discovered that they are not entirely satisfied with what mainstream Christianity today has taught them, and they instinctively know that there is more to their faith and in living like Yeshua (Jesus). Most importantly, they know that Christian […]

Another One Bites the Dust

25 July, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

POSTED 19 MAY, 2008 reproduced from the McHuey Blog I have been in the Messianic movement almost thirteen years since 1995, and I have witnessed a great deal firsthand. I have been able to truly taste of what the Messianic movement can be if we place Yeshua the Messiah at the center of what we do, and we all strive to make a positive difference in the world. I have seen Jewish people come to enlivened faith in their Messiah, and I have seen Christians come to a deeper understanding of who He is. I have seen true unity among […]

July 2016 Editor’s Update

24 July, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

Dear Friends: The past month has been unbelievably busy, tiring, and exhausting—and on top of it all I got a nasty sinus infection. But, this past month, with a noticeable change in our routine, was very important for both myself and our ministry. Those of you who follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are likely to have been aware of the many things that I was involved with from mid-June to mid-July. The biggest thing that occurred in July is that our ministry, Outreach Israel and Messianic Apologetics, exhibited our books and resources at Messiah 2016 in Grantham, PA. We […]

A New Website

24 July, 2016 J.K. McKee 0

A few of you may have noticed a number of the changes taking place on my Messianic Apologetics website (www.messianicapologetics.net). I am presently in the middle of transitioning over to a WordPress format, which will make the site much more compatible with mobile devices and more integrated into social media. Please bear with me as I learn to use this software over the next several weeks. Updates will be made periodically, as I sort out how to utilize the different menus and features. In the meantime, the old website is still accessible at the following address: www.messianicapologetics.net/old

Transitioning Into the New Website

24 July, 2016 J.K. McKee 2

The (old) Messianic Apologetics website is a massive depository of information. If I counted things up correctly, there are 170 Article listings, 244 FAQ entries, and 66 different books and publications available for purchase. Give or take a few in the miscount, no matter how you look at it–that is massive! Many of these resources are available as downloadable PDF files for Adobe Acrobat. Notwithstanding updating a few of these files, and changing around some of the fonts and spacing, it should be pretty straightforward in posting PDF links to these hundreds of documents. But I have decided to do something […]
